Johnny's First Visit to the Hospital in an Ambulance

It was a regular Sunday and after his wife's event...

Something fell on someone and injured someone...

So, he was send to TTSH.

It was a Sunday, after an event and many people were assisting to move the things back. There was a shortage of manpower; hence Johnny was roped to help. His wife, in-laws, cousin Jun and cousin husband were all there.

When they reached the warehouse, his wife and in-laws moved the smaller items while Jun stayed at the platform. The lorry has already reversed into the loading unloading bay. But being a small lorry today, it is 30cm below the height of the platform. The platform is container height.

Johnny and cousin husband was trying to lift a 200kg cage of equipment on to the platform. The cage is appx. 1.6m X 1m X 1m. It seems heavy, so they unload half the load. Now it's only 98kg. Johnny was standing on the right side and trying to lift the cage when cousin husband was on the other side and Jun monitor from the platform.

When the cage was lifted off the lorry it began to lean backwards. Hence, cousin husband quickly support the cage from the back. However, the weight proofs too much for them and the cage fell on Johnny's right leg.

He immediately pulls it out and takes a look at his leg. The cage caused a gaping wound 6inch by 2inch wide and deep till the bone.

Seeing such injury, the first thing he thought of was, is thus a 1777 case or 995 case. Cousin husband decided that its 995 and call for ambulance service while Jun quickly went up.

His cousin husband suffered a long abrasion across the length of his back and abrasion on his right thumb.

Shortly after, his wife and in-laws arrived at scene. His wife helped to retrieve his IC and HP. He called his brother at home and TL to info them his leg is badly injured and can't work for the next few days.

Than come the wait for the ambulance. The operator does not know where their building is and they dispatched the ambulance to the wrong place too.

While waiting for the ambulance, Johnny leg couldn't stop bleeding. The blood was flowing out constantly and it stained the length of the lorry with thick red blood. So, he placed the injured limb on the side of the lorry. It helped to reduce the flow.

They all witnessed the ambulance cruise along the main road and pass the building. Hence, cousin husband run out to the main road and directed them back.

When the paramedics attended to him, they bandaged his leg and placed him on the stretcher. Subsequently, they conveyed him to TTSH together with his wife.

Upon arrival, Johnny was wheeled to the ER and the nurses attended to him and transferred him to a wheelchair for better mobility. Took an X-Ray and wait for the doctor.

In the mean time, the folks quickly moved the things into the warehouse and proceeded to the hospital. Johnny's brother called up his wife and proceeded to hospital with his mother.

While waiting for the doctor, Johnny and Wife went out to meet his parents and in-laws. By then, both his brother, his mum and in-laws was there. After talking and explaining the eventful night, Johnny went back to wait for the doctor. Only one person is allowed inside A&E per patient. His mother left with his elder shortly after.

The doctor takes a look at the X-Ray and declared the bones intact. Than he said he will operate on his leg later and asked him to wait outside.

While waiting outside, Johnny's wife collects the medication while he called up AO YouYi to enquire about hospitalization issues and subsidies.

After informing his in laws and brother of what the doctor said, they went back too.

Shortly after, YouYi appears at the hospital and they chat for a while. There's a possibility of being warded, hence, YouYi left when the nurse called.

When the nurse came, she gave a 7 days MC and a letter for referral to the polyclinic. She than get ready to discharge Johnny. They were like, huh, discharged? The injured leg is in the exact same way as admission! After informing her, she makes some enquiries and sends him to the Operating Theater.

In the OT, the doctor removed the bandaged to reveal the full extend of the injury. He has a giant syringe that was used to make the injured area numb from pain. Everything is alright when the needle was push in. However, when the chemicals were injected into his leg, the pain was extraordinary.

He than proceed to wash the infected area. He did it as if he was washing vegetables. Without a care in world. Johnny was like 'Hey, it's MY leg!'. But well, Johnny being Johnny, wouldn't do that. He bared the pain, didn't scream or shout and sing to himself.

When he's finished, the nurse gave care instruction and follows up actions.

He had managed 12 stitches to force 5 inches shut and the remaining 1 inch is left bare. There isn't enough skin left to shut it. So, he'll leave it to a specialist to decide what to do with it. Johnny was inform that he can't walk on the injured limb until further notice, that there is not a need to be warded unless you are too rich and discharged him thereafter.

Johnny informed his brother to pack some clothing and requested Nick to pick him up. Than Nick brought him back to collect the clothing and send him back to his in-laws place to recover.

Johnny is alive, doing good and trying to recover properly. His wife is taking very good and special care for him, as usual. There isn't a need to worry or visit him. He can manage. He thanked everyone who visited him at the hospital and also sms their concerns. He will get well soon.

He's looking for more drivers to bring him to doctors and specialist. Currently only Nick is so free and constantly available.
