Ubin Trip

we have planned to meet at 8am and proceed to the island after breakfast.

here is me wife havin breakfast, we were waiting for the rest of the teachers to come... happens that we are early.. haha....
Ubin Trip

than i saw a cat that just woke up....
Ubin Trip
cute right? haha...

anyway, shortly after, we went to the near by hawker center for some food and once we are done, we walk to the jetty le.... it's very much nicer now... got BIG sign board.. incase you are short sighted..
Ubin Trip

once we reach the island, we begin a slow walk into the island, following the road west-ward.... along the way we saw many giant spiders... some got 7 legs, some got 6 legs.. this one here got 8.
Ubin Trip

we managed to climb to the peak of the one of the highest hills on ubin.. and the view is superb...
i took this shot through a bino... you can barely see the faint outline of westin the stamford hotel at City Hall
Ubin Trip
it's right in the center of the picture...

and this is the panoramic view from the top of the hill....

we reach a hut with a VERY prominent sign that it's selling drinks... so we sat down and enjoy the icy cold drinks served by this uncle here.
Ubin Trip
this uncle is now cleaning some roots that is rich in Vitamin B12.... he harvest the roots from around the island and sell to the other islanders....

than he intro us to this plant here.... the flower and leaves can be eaten de.. me and malcolm tan tasted the leaves.... but hor, we spit it out almost immediately when the uncle not looking... not nice one... blucks....
Ubin Trip

after we finish our drink, we say good bye and the teachers brought us to see the hostel... interesting... ubin got stay in hostel... haha... it's quite well maintain and we saw many youngster going about their business...

when we left the place, we took a right turn out of the path and the teachers shown us something cute..... and yummmy....
Ubin Trip
tada... wild boar.... the owner caught it long ago and the boar have been in captivity since... it seems to enjoy it self lo... haha....

after we had fun with the boar, we walk back to the jetty and the rest of the teacher caught the next boat home... me, ling and malcolm stayed behind, we intend to travel to chek jawa even though it's close.. haha... so, we rent 2 bikes, malcolm got one for him self while me and ling shared...

half way through it started to rain... malcolm got rain coat so it's ok.. me and ling got nothing lo.. but we kept the cameras, handphones into zip lock bag (i carry at all times... :P ) than we carry on journey.... got uphill, downhill etc etc until we finally reached our destination...
i do think we were lucky... we went through a open gate, which i think was left open because of the rain and lorries are coming through for the construction... cause when we're leaving, it's closed and locked.... so we wait for the worker to open it for us... :D

so here we are, almost at chek jawa when malcolm shown us a old colonial house there... it's being restored to it former glory as we watch it.... i did 2 panos and a 360....

Ubin Trip
this is the jetty leading out from the colonial house. we do think that the house may be used as a holiday bungalow with it's private jetty... there were plans to develop this part of the island in to holiday chalets for govenment usage, but now no news le...

after that we proceed to chek jawa and took some pictures....
